Tootie comes home with a "behavior report" that says she has been flagrantly disregarding rules -- and her teacher's instructions -- this past week.
My lecture, which started on the way home: We always respect our teachers ... blah...blah...blah...if Ms. S. tells you to do something, you do it ... blah...blah...blah...if Ms. S. tells you to stop doing something, you will listen to her and STOP IT immediately...blah...blah...blah.. Every time we hear from Ms. S., you will be punished at home too ...blah...blah...blah...I want you to go to your room and think about all of this ...blah...blah...blah...Do you understand that this is unacceptable behavior and that it will NOT continue and that every time I get a note you will lose a movie and other privileges? I mean it, this will not continue... blah...blah...blah...
Hubs' lecture: Tootie, you're a sweet little girl. I want you to be a sweet little girl at school too.

Excellent. The man folk do have a way of getting right to the point, don't they?
This is so us too. Once I start talking I just can't stop and boy, does that get me into trouble.
You shot a nail gun into your ear? That would make it harder to hear hubby for the next "lecture". That's a good thing, right?
Your children are sweet at home?! How'd you do that?
You just made me choke on my coffee...
I am the undisputed Queen of ranting. Hubs is a man of few words, as, it seems, many men are. I wonder why that is?
Oh yes. They sure know how to parent, those men.
oh yeah, usually when I start a lecture, something goes terribly awry and I end up making things WORSE rather than better. Fortunately (or not?!) Jay is afflicted with the same problem. NO wonder CJ is confused!
I only rant at Hubby. Punkin' gets the short and sweet. Well, not necessarily sweet, but short.
It doesn't matter with hubby, he doesn't listen past the first few words anyway. But the rant makes me feel better.
Hubs has the cliffnotes thing DOWN.
Oh so, so true.
