The sisters

Look at C. and Tootie sitting in the daffodils of Wye Mountain.

Would you think, even for a second, that they have different mothers? No, you wouldn't, not even if you met them in person -- because in both cases, the Hubs' genetic imprint is readily apparent, right down to the freckles on each of their little noses. Not so with the maternal contributions. (The only thing that marks Tootie as mine are the middle two toes on each foot, which, like mine, are slightly webbed.)

Now the boys -- they're a whole different story. T. looks like his mom. And you can certainly see me when you look at the E-man.

Some days, however, I have to recheck Tootie's toes, just to make sure I didn't imagine that whole nine months and birthing scene.
