In the hours before my 20th high school reunion, I scrutinized the sag, bemoaned the pooch, and struck various poses in front of the mirror, alternately adjusting bra straps (must. get. boobs. back. to. original. spot.) and sucking in my stomach.
Sighing, I turned from the mirror and picked up my tiny purse.
"Mommy?"
Two little people blocked the door.
The girl child touched my dress. Boy child eyed the sparkley necklace.
"You look beautiful."
And when I looked again, I saw what they saw. And I was.

Jeez, I love kids! My 4 year old thinks I'm the most beautiful thing alive.... dark circles, crow's feet, pooch and all!
You're back!! YAY!!
That is a precious post and I bet you did look beautiful. Hope you had a blast!!
I was just gonna ask where you were!
You are a beautiful person, you know.
I'm not being eloquent here, but don't kids just rock?
Beautiful. This is beautiful. What they said is beautiful. You knowing it is beautiful. You are beautiful.
They inexplicably scheduled my reunion after school starts. Oh well too bad, too many conflicts.
I wish our school started in two weeks.
Gasping from the ache. We are so lucky, aren't we? These little people cutting through it all and reminding us how precious we are!
Thank you for this beauty!
Missed ya! Hope you had a good and productive time. Can't wait to hear about the reunion!
